You’re taking about 750 to 800 strides on EACH leg during a single mile. Do the math. That’s a lot of strides. Little tiny improvements add up!

Think about how hard it is to improve your average race speed by a full 10 seconds per mile – how many track sessions, tempo runs, and long runs you need to do.
