How to assess rotational hip mobility in 90/90

How to test:

The hip joints need to be able to rotate freely, and do so in all planes of motion and in different joint positions! This assessment in a 90/90 position is one very good way to assess the ability for our hips to move freely into both external and internal rotation.

As you may know, as we get older it becomes even more challenging to maintain good hip function and an optimal hip joint workspace.

Why does this happen? Lots of reasons. Arthritis, connective tissue changes including the development of scar tissue and minor injuries all leading to changes in tissue function, are just a few.

If you find you can’t sit comfortably in these positions, then you know it is an area of need for you. Let’s get started!

Make sure to proceed carefully and ease into everything. There’s no rush, enjoy the journey.
